Sony FR7 Cinema Line PTZ Camera
The Sony FR7 Cinema Line PTZ camera gives content creators, films and producers more creative options. This is thanks to its full-frame image sensor, interchangeable lenses and remote shooting capability.
Image quality without compromise in a PTZ form factor
The Sony FR7 features a 35 mm full-frame CMOS image sensor with 10.3 megapixels and 15+ stops of dynamic range and pan-tilt-zoom capabilities. Even under low-light shots, this camera does a good job. The ISO can be extended to 409,600. In the process, this camera offers low noise and beautiful full-frame bokeh giving you great images. The built-in electronic variable ND filter automatically adjusts to light conditions, so you won't suffer from overexposure either. A particularly big advantage of this PTZ camera is the ability to use Sony E-mount lenses, including the G-Master lenses. The focal length can therefore range from 12 mm to 1200 mm. So you can give your creativity free rein! In addition, the camera offers real-time eye autofocus and real-time tracking, so your images are always in focus, even with fast-moving subjects or subjects at steep angles.
Features for the cinematic look and feel
This Sony FR7 offers some handy features to give all your images a cinematic look and feel. For example, the Sensitivity setting offers ISO up to 409,600 for low-light shooting. In return, the 15+ stops of dynamic range ensure smooth highlights and the lowest possible noise level. Furthermore, the camera offers preset scene files that allow you to easily choose the right settings for certain scenes. A good example is the S-Cinetone for natural mid tones with which skin tones appear so true to life, with soft colours and beautiful highlights. Another option is the Cine EI mode which allows you to set the sensitivity to ISO 800 or ISO 12800 so lighting conditions are matched and noise is minimised as much as possible. Here you can also use Sony's S-Log3 game, wide S-Gamut3 and S-Gamut3.Cine colour spaces. Finally, you have the option of slow-motion shooting in 4K at 120 frames per second.
Easy operation and pre-set camera positions.
The camera offers simple controls that make all camera settings, such as panning, tilting, zooming, focusing and recording, a breeze. You can set everything up from a tablet or computer, and also view images remotely. You can also view multiple cameras remotely on one device. Because this control works remotely, you can also hang the camera on a tripod or on the ceiling, so you can take images from different viewpoints.
The speed of panning and tilting can be infinitely adjusted from 0.02 degrees to 60 degrees per second, for smooth camera movements. The pan range varies from -170° to +170° and the tilt range from -30° to +195°. Once you've found the right position for your camera, you can save it for next time. In fact, the Sony FR7 can remember up to 100 camera positions and these can be recalled with a simple operation.
Connectivity galore
The Sony FR7 offers an option for Ethernet connectivity. It allows you to control the camera, create video and audio transmission, and power the camera. It also offers a variety of streaming protocols for working in an IP-based environment.
This camera supports synchronisation with multiple cameras. Indeed, the Timecode IN connector receives time codes for another external device, while the GENLOCK receives signals in multi-camera setups. Also, built-in red and green tally lights on the camera's side panels offer artists easy on-air and preview camera identification in multi-camera setups in the studio or on location.
