Description
Sony FX3A
The Sony FX3 has been upgraded and renamed the Sony FX3A. The Sony FX3A takes you into the world of cinema. The video camera is super-compact, but has everything you're looking for as a cinematographer. 4K image quality, low-light, real-time Eye AF & touch tracking and much more.
Sensor
Sony's FX3A (ILMEFX3AB.CEC) uses a 10.2-megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor and together with the Bionz XR processor, this technology provides the performance you're looking for. This sensor not only allows you to shoot in 4K at 120fps, but also with minimal rolling shutter. This means you won't have any blackouts. It also ensures that you can deliver stunning results in difficult lighting conditions. After all, you have an ISO of up to 409,800 and a wide dynamic range of +15 stops.
Autofocus and stabilisation
Sony's autofocus has been praised for its accurate Eye autofocus on humans and animals. With this camera, they go the extra mile and you can even work with touch tracking. This means you click on a person or object on your screen. The camera will then automatically make sure your chosen subject stays in focus even if it moves. The enhanced FX3A includes an improved LCD touchscreen with 2.36 million dots (compared to 1.44 million dots in previous releases). This allows you to see in maximum detail what is in focus. The camera also uses five-axis image stabilisation. You'll find that you'll never have shaky images again. In any case, it won't be down to the camera.
S-log3 and S-Cinetone
The most talked about and probably the most used picture profiles are the S-log3 and the S-cinetone. These picture profiles allow you to add high contrast with beautiful clarity and detail in post-processing. Note that when using S-log3 you always have to edit your images. On the other hand, S-Cinetone, inspired by Venice colormetry, uses beautiful colours and natural skin tones. You can use these directly, though, without necessarily having to post-edit your images. If you do want to, there's plenty of room left to do so.
WiFi and Bluetooth
As you are used to from Sony, you can use WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity again. This allows you to transfer your images directly to your mobile or stream them. You also have the option of storing your images securely on the two CFExpress Type A or SD cards.
Exterior
Weighing in at 715g, it's safe to say that it's not only snug, but therefore nice to add to your existing gear. The camera uses E-mount and can therefore be used with the lenses you might have already purchased for other cameras. It also comes with everything you need as a cinematographer. A 3.5 XLR mini jack input, 2x inputs for microphone, an input for USB type-C and micro USB, an HDMI output.
