The Sony E 55-210mm F/4.5-6.3 OSS lens features extra-low dispersion glass, an extensive zoom range and an aluminium construction. On an APS-C camera, this zoom lens provides an equivalent focal length range of 82.5 to 315 millimetres, making it highly suitable for event photography and portraits. An internal focusing system and powered linear AF motor contribute to responsive yet smooth performance while minimising mechanical noise. In addition, a dedicated manual focus ring enables seamless transitions between autofocus and manual focus.

Two extra-low dispersion elements, combined with Sony's Optical SteadyShot (OSS) image stabilisation, improve overall image quality at the telephoto end of the zoom range, particularly when shooting in low-light conditions. OSS can compensate for camera shake by up to four stops.
