Caruba HB-23 Lens hood
A lens hood prevents too much sunlight from entering your lens. When shooting in bright sunlight, the reflection in your lens can overexpose your photos. Backlight also causes lens flare in your photos. A lens hood counteracts this. A lens hood blocks the light in the right places, without the lens hood being in the frame of your photos. Also, a lens hood also provides protection for your front lens.
