The Gitzo GK2542-82QD Mountaineer Kit Series 2 is a carbon fiber tripod consisting of a GT2542 Mountaineer Tripod and a GH3382QD Center Ball Head. The Gitzo GT2542 Series 2 Carbon Fiber Tripod is a lightweight 4-piece tripod that reliably supports DSLRs with 200mm lenses (up to 300mm). This professional tripod has carbon eXact tubes with stiffer and larger leg diameters with an upper section diameter of 29.0 mm and carbon fiber lower legs, making it stiffer and stronger than other tripods in its segment. The center column of the tripod is easy to remove, transforming it into a floor stand, allowing photographers to photograph in the widest possible perspective. It also has a reversible column mechanism.

The Gitzo GT2542 four-point legs are secured with G-lock Ultra Twist Locks, with a built-in O-ring that keeps dirt and dust from the leg mechanism. The tripod's top spider is newly designed for extra rigidity. The tripod has a stabilizer hook on its center column for more weight and increased stability if necessary.
