Hoya 58mm PROND EX 500
The Hoya 58mm PROND EX 500 is a Neutral Density filter (ND filter). This Filter reduces light to an equivalent of 9 f-stops.
ND filters are the most requested and essential type of photographic filters for several reasons. For photographers, an ND filter means precise control over the amount of light coming through the lens, for more creative control over exposure. For creators of video content, ND filters are very useful for setting shutter speeds that match the frame rate, while preserving the depth of field of images.
Of the various ND filters, from ND2 to ND1000 and even ND100000, we can generally categorise them into three basic groups:
- Light density filters (ND2 - ND8)
- Medium density filters (ND16 - ND200)
- Depth density filters (ND500 - ND1000 / ND100000)
If you want to take more creative photos with extremely slow shutter speeds, high-density filters are recommended. ND filters such as the ND500 or ND1000 help capture a dramatic, unreal fantasy world that cannot be perceived by the human eye.
Hoya offers its own exclusive and comprehensive range of ND filters, branded PROND EX series, for both photographers and filmmakers. PROND EX filters use Hoya's clear optical glass mounted in a lightweight, precision-manufactured aluminium frame. The frame has filter threads on the front, allowing you to attach additional Filters or a Lens cap.
Thanks to Battery ND technology, which puts Hoya ND filters far ahead of other brands, the image is not adversely affected by colour shift that can occur due to low-quality materials, poor manufacturing quality control or problems with leakage from the infrared band of the light spectrum. The latter problem is the most important in photography and Videography today.
Hoya's exclusive ACCU-ND technology ensures equal reduction of light in the visible and infrared spectrum. As a result, the photographer does not have to worry about colour shift when using Hoya ND filters under different shooting conditions.
