The Hoya 62mm UV-IR filter is a filter that, when mounted on your front lens, allows only the visible spectrum of light rays captured by the sensor to pass through. The filter blocks both the higher frequency ultraviolet rays and the lower frequency infrared rays. This is important for photographers with a digital camera, as the CCD and CMOS sensors in these cameras are very sensitive to picking up UV and IR radiation from just outside the visible spectrum. This can have a very negative impact on the image quality of the recordings.
