The Hoya 77mm Star-Eight in SQ case creates an 8-beam flare on light spots and is effective when shooting night lighting, reflections on water surfaces, light leaking through leaves, pictures of jewellery and other scenes with small light sources.
Star filters are dramatic multi-point light flares or light beams, also known as "star effect", that bring bright or strong point light sources into the scene. Star filters come in 3 different variants: STAR 4X, STAR 6X and STAR 8X, which release 4, 6 or 8 light beams from the light source, respectively.
In Hoya star filters, lines are etched into the surface of the filter's high-quality optical glass to create the star effect. Each of the filters, STAR 4X, STAR 6X and STAR 8X, has different line patterns etched into the glass to create the number of light rays for the filter.
The star filter creates a beautiful and romantic effect as it emits multiple light rays coming from a pointed light source, or from a bright object in the image. Please note that the appearance of the beam may vary depending on aperture setting, size, strength of the light source and distance from the camera.
