Description
Kase Revolution ND100000 Filter 67mm
The Kase Revolution ND100000 Filter 67mm is an ND filter that provides an exposure reduction of 16.5 stops. This filter is mostly used for solar photography. Thanks to the included magnetic lens adapter ring from Kase, the filter can be used on a lens with a 67mm filter thread on the front.
The neutral density of the filter ensures that the entire image is darkened without affecting the colouration of the image. The multi-coating ensures accurate colours and sharp results with long exposure times and prevents ghosting and flare. The lightweight and thin aluminium frame prevents vignetting and the easily recognizable orange serrated edge ensures a secure grip, for easy mounting and removal.
Solar eclipses are a rare phenomenon; a total solar eclipse even more so. Unless you are lucky enough to live on the path of totality, you’ll need to travel to a suitable viewing location. Given their predictable nature, several websites and apps can help you find and map the path of solar eclipses, including TimeAndDate, NASA, and Wikipedia.
Upcoming Total Solar Eclipses
August 12, 2026, August 2, 2027, July 22, 2028.
If you’re planning on photographing a solar eclipse, whether it’s a total or partial eclipse, preparation and safety are paramount. The first thing to be aware of is that there are dangers associated with viewing a solar eclipse. Never look directly at the sun with your naked eye, especially not through your best telescope or binoculars. At best, you’ll burn your retinas; at worst, you could go instantly and permanently blind.
Always wear sun glasses. This also applies to your telephoto camera, always use a good filter, which will significantly reduce the amount of light that comes through. Pointing a telephoto lens at the sun without any protection for your gear is a very bad idea. A telephoto lens increases the intensity of sunlight and can melt the sensor in extreme cases!
