What is a lens cap/ body cap?
As the name implies, a lens cap is a cap that is attached to the lens and thus provides protection against moisture, sand and other dirt. The body cap is then attached to the body of the camera and can thus be stored separately from the lens. As standard, a cap is included with a camera or lens, but if you lose it you can easily order it in the shop. Common lenses are from Caruba, Canon and Samyang.
Size and fastening
Which lens cap/body cap to purchase depends on the size in mm's of the end of the lens or body. This is stated with the lens or camera itself, in addition, some caps already indicate which model they are suitable for. The mechanism often works simply via a click or slide system.
