Metabones Canon EF to MFT T Smart Adapter Mark II

The Metabones Canon EF to MFT T Smart Adapter Mark II makes it possible to mount a full-frame Canon EF-mount lens on a Micro Four Thirds-mount camera. In doing so, the adapter's optics help to maximise the apparent angle of view of the attached lens while providing 1-stop magnification for the camera over the aperture range of the lens.

If a lens intended for 35mm film or similar full-frame camera sensors is connected to a camera with a Micro Four Thirds format sensor, it would project a larger image than the Micro Four Thirds sensor is built to accept. Able to capture only the centre portion of the projected image, the effective angle of view of the lens would be narrowed, creating an in-camera "crop factor". This smart adapter condenses light from a lens designed for 35mm film or "full frame" camera sensors and projects it onto a Micro Four Thirds sensor. This allows a Micro Four Thirds sensor to use more light collected by an attached lens, effectively reducing the crop factor and providing the sensor with 1 extra stop of light for each of the lens' f/stop settings.

This adapter is made of aluminium alloy for durability and low weight, and the mounting rings are made of brass to further prevent wear and tear. Inside are five lens elements in four groups designed to provide optical clarity and colour fidelity, and a detachable tripod base is included with 1/4"-20 thread and compatibility with Arca-Swiss tripod heads.

Electronic autofocus functions include phase-detection autofocus, iris/aperture control by the camera body, image stabilisation lens support and in-body image stabilisation support. It also offers electronic manual focus, EXIF data display and support for cinema EOS lenses. However, there are limitations, such as AF not working with certain lenses, no support for focus stacking and audible clicking noises during autofocus editing.

Other features include a detachable tripod base compatible with different ball heads, flocking to reduce internal reflection and a rubber gasket to protect the MFT mount from dust and moisture. The adapter is compatible with various MFT mount cameras and supports EF-S lenses. It also offers a camera body compatibility list for Panasonic, Olympus/OM System, BlackMagic Design and JVC cameras.
