Individual calibration of each lens provides optimal compensation for spherical aberration, resulting in a smooth appearance of the edges without leaving a trail of ugly 'nisen bokeh'.
Macro lenses are often used for a wide range of focusing distances, so a floating focusing mechanism has been implemented in this 90mm lens for optimal suppression of aberration due to close focusing aberration. The floating system reduces the lens while retaining excellent brightness across the image field, from infinity to the closest focusing distance.
