Retaining Tokina's advanced technology (ATX), the new series is marked with the letter "m", which stands for "motif" and "mirrorless" - the motivation Tokina offers photographers for taking unique and breathtaking pictures with mirrorless cameras.

The first lens to debut in the atx-m series is this 85mm F1.8 FE, designed for Sony full-frame cameras with E-mount. It is a completely redesigned medium telephoto prime lens in the Tokina series, with a popular 85 mm focal length and a fast f/1.8 aperture, an excellent spec combination for shooting portraits, landscapes, street shots and close-ups.

Manufactured to Sony licensed specifications, the 85mm F1.8 FE ensures the overall quality and pleasure of capturing the world, taking full advantage of the latest and advanced features of Sony's mirrorless cameras.

10 optical elements, including one SD (Low-dispersion) generate the image with excellent resolution from corner to corner, high contrast, low distortion / chromatic aberrations, great compression and natural colour reproduction. Silent, fast and accurate focusing is achieved by ST-M focus motor control. Smooth and precise manual focusing thanks to the all-metal unit and high-quality lubricants.

Made compatible with autofocus and other Sony camera functions, the Tokina atx-m 85mm F1.8 FE offers perfect functionality and usability for the photographer. Fully compatible with the Fast Hybrid AF system and all AF function settings, the Tokina atx-m 85mm F1.8 FE offers the same AF performance as with proprietary E-mount AF lenses. Fine manual focus, face/eye priority AF and real-time eye AF are also compatible.

Precise focusing is supported by compatibility with the MF Assist function, where fine focusing is adjusted by manual rotation of the focus ring with simultaneous coupling with the image magnification function and display of the bar distance on the monitor.

Thanks to data transfer via electrical contacts, the camera obtains the necessary data from the lens chip to correct shading, distortion and lateral chromatic aberrations. Optical corrections can also be performed by the camera. By sending focal length data, the Tokina atx-m 85mm F1.8 FE can make maximum use of the camera's in-body 5-axis image stabilisation function.
