Top 10 UV filters

A UV filter is a ring with tempered glass inside, which inhibits the effect of UV rays. Since (modern) cameras already have a built-in sensor that detects UV radiation, a separate UV filter is often bought to protect the expensive camera lens. These filters also come in a range of types and sizes. Check out the most popular filters in the top 10 list below. All filters are also available in other sizes.

    Affordable lens protection

Firstly, a UV filter protects the image from UV radiation. But because digital cameras are often built to prevent this radiation, a UV filter can be bought to protect the expensive lens. In addition, a UV filter is ideal for preventing dust and dirt from getting in the lens. The protective effect of a UV filter is therefore a great addition for digital photography.

UV filters are available from Hoya, B+W and Polaroid, among others. When choosing a UV filter, the quality is very important. A good UV filter won't detract from the authenticity of colours or influence photos. This depends on the optical glass of which the filter is made. Also pay attention to the filter size. A 38mm filter does not fit a 17mm lens. By using an adapter ring, you can attach a UV filter to a lens of a different size. In addition to a UV filter, you can also use ND filters and polarising filters. Ideal for photographing with slow shutter speeds or determining the incidence of light.
