A good UV filter does not compromise the authenticity of colours and will not affect your photos. This is due to the optical glass the filter is made of. Also pay attention to the filter size. A 38mm filter will not fit a 17mm lens. By using an adapter ring, you can attach a UV filter to a different lens size. Besides a UV filter, you can also use ND filters and polarisation filters.
