Description
Voigtländer Nokton Classic 35mm f/1.4 RF
The Voigtländer Nokton Classic 35mm f/1.4 is a compact manual prime for full-frame Canon RF cameras that deliberately chooses character over maximum sharpness. The symmetrical optical construction of 8 elements in 6 groups uses glass with an ultra-high refractive index and intentionally leaves part of the spherical aberration intact. At fully open aperture, this creates a soft, organic blur with a slightly glowing character reminiscent of analogue photography from the seventies. When you stop down the aperture, the lens delivers sharp and contrast-rich images. This means the lens behaves differently depending on the aperture, making it suitable for a wide range of situations and styles.
The 10-blade aperture creates a round bokeh in which point light sources appear as soft circles in the image. The minimum focusing distance of 27 cm enables close-up perspectives that were out of reach with classic rangefinder lenses. The focus ring features a carefully adjusted mechanism and is dampened with special grease for a smooth and precise turning feel that supports accurate focusing. Aperture adjustment is mechanical via the aperture ring on the lens itself, in one-third stop increments. Thanks to the electronic contacts, the lens communicates with the camera for Exif data, in-body image stabilisation and three focus assist functions. The fully metal housing weighs just 260 grams and has a length of 37.6mm, making it comfortable to handle even on the most compact RF bodies.
